What if I live outside of the Washington, DC Metro Area?
Travel Program
Many of our patients travel from near and far to meet with Dr. J. Alberto Martinez, a renowned ‘Top Pterygium Surgeon’. Dr. Martinez has developed ground breaking surgical innovations in the treatment of Pterygium that has revolutionized, simplified and enhanced both the aesthetic and clinical success of our EyeWhite Pterygium Removal Institute, home of the ASAP Procedure.
Our goal is to make traveling to our center for Pterygium surgery from long distances as seamless to you as possible.
How does this work? Will I need a consultation?
We offer a complimentary initial photo consultation
The EyeWhite Pterygium|Pinguecula Institute is located in N. Bethesda/Rockville, Maryland, part of the Washington, DC metro area.
If you may be interested in Pterygium removal and our exclusive ASAP procedure, Dr. Martinez can provide a complimentary record or photo review of your pterygium. This will not only help to determine your initial candidacy, but also provide you with a pricing estimate as a follow-up to help you prepare financially for the trip.
Our goal is to make this as seamless as possible! Our Eyewhite surgical counselor will assist you with this process by coordinating a review of your records or photos with Dr. Martinez or one of our optometrists. Additionally, your counselor will coordinate a brief phone or Skype consult with Dr. Martinez or one of our optometrists to discuss his preliminary recommendations.
Once you are ready to proceed, your counselor will work with you to schedule three appointments during a 3-day stay, a visit for an exam, surgical treatment, and a follow-up exam – all within the same 3-day visit. Additionally, your counselor will help coordinate follow-up with your local doctor upon your return as recommended.
It’s easy to send us a photo review and it’s the first step to seeing the bright whites of your eyes in a clear way.
Please do the following to submit photos to Dr. Martinez:
Photo Review Initial Consultation – Easy Steps (1, 2, 3) for the ASAP Pterygium Procedure
As part of the pre-screening process, you need to send up-close photographs of your eye(s) for review.
When sending photographs for review, it would be helpful if you could please explain how the appearance of your eyes is affecting you and what symptoms you may be experiencing. This picture will help Dr. Martinez determine if you may be a candidate for the procedure.
When you submit photographs for review, Dr. Martinez will provide a preliminary determination of candidacy and an estimated price for the procedure prior to the consultation.
The final decision on candidacy and pricing for the procedure can only be determined by consultation.
Please note that a photo review typically can take anywhere from 5 to 10 business days depending on the volume of photo reviews.
Please take the following 5 photos of your eyes:
- Right Eye – looking straight ahead
- Left Eye – looking straight ahead
- Both Eyes – looking up at the ceiling, keeping head in straight position, only move eyes
- Both Eyes – looking to the far right, keeping head in straight position, only move eyes
- Both Eyes – looking to the far left, keeping head in straight position, only move eyes when taking photos, please have someone assist you with the process. This will help with obtaining sharper and crisper photos
Insurance and Payment Options
Let’s face it: many of us don’t really like to talk about money. However, none of us are unaffected as to the reality of the effect of the dollar on our lives. We invest when and where we can, and we generally spend our money on the things that mean the most to us.
Insurance
We accept most insurance plans and typically your insurance will cover based on your individual plan coverages for Pterygium Surgery. We can verify your benefits, let you know what will be covered and let you know what you may owe out of pocket.
What’s Your Vision Worth?
When it comes to our eyes and our health we all want the very best available. We know that vision correction or medical help with our eyes is not inexpensive, but we also know that its value is incredibly high. Your vision is used every moment that you are awake. A new car or truck is used for approximately 2 hours a day and is worth half of what you paid for it in 5 years.
Value Vs. Cost
We see people every day investing in themselves by getting vision correction or help with their eyes at Visionary Eye Doctors. Though the cost of procedures can vary depending on which one is right for you, we know that value matters more than cost. In other words, how much you get for what you spent matters more than what you spent. We aim to give you far more for what you spend at the EyeWhite Institute, a part of Visionary Eye Doctors than the cost of your surgery. It’s why we spend so much in technology and people to care for you.
Payment Plans
We have payment plans available that make Pterygium surgery affordable for most everyone. We know tight budgets make it tough to come up with a “chunk” of money rather than paying overtime in bite-sized bits. That’s why we offer the following options to you. We want to make this as easy as possible because we know what a gift it is to be able to see better, feel better and look better with your eyes!
CareCredit® is a credit card for your health and beauty needs that lets you enjoy the benefits of living well today, with special healthcare financing options so you can pay monthly.
