Dr. Georgina Medina, M.D., has built a notable career that is driven by a combination of profound medical knowledge and a compassionate approach to patient care. She specializes in Glaucoma, Cataract, and Comprehensive Ophthalmology, ensuring her patients receive exemplary care for a wide array of ocular needs. Her fellowship at Emory Eye Center in Atlanta, GA, with a focus on Glaucoma, laid a robust foundation for her expertise in managing and treating glaucoma and related conditions.

Her residency in Ophthalmology at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital- Washington Hospital Center located in Washington D.C., shaped her clinical capabilities, especially in managing comprehensive ophthalmologic conditions. With a Doctorate in Medicine from Universidad Central del Caribe, Bayamón, PR, and an undergraduate degree in Interdisciplinary Studies in Natural Sciences from the University of Puerto Rico, Dr. Medina aligns a firm educational background with her extensive clinical experience.

In addition to her impressive clinical capabilities, Dr. Medina has illustrated commendable leadership and service throughout her career. She served as the Class President at Universidad Central del Caribe from 2014-2018 and has been a representative and active participant in numerous educational committees and accreditation processes. Dr. Medina has also devoted her time and expertise to multiple community service initiatives, including various vision screening efforts for underserved populations in Georgia and Maryland, and has contributed her skillset to various non-profit organizations.

Being an active member of numerous professional affiliations, including the American Association of Ophthalmology and Women in Ophthalmology, Dr. Medina ensures she remains at the forefront of medical advances and peer-connected activities in her field. However, her approach is not only centered around the physiological aspects of patient care. She is deeply committed to ensuring that her patients feel heard, cared for, and assured in their medical journeys.

Hobbies & Interests:

Dr. Medina is from a close-knit Cuban/Puerto Rican family and spent her childhood in Puerto Rico, fostering strong family bonds. Inspired by the several other doctors in her family, she is proud to be the first woman in her family with a doctorate degree. Dr. Medina is an enthusiastic supporter of the NFL and she has a passion and knack for interior design.
